Hello!
Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Mine was wonderful. I spent it with my extended family in Wisconsin and ate way too much all weekend long! It was so much fun.
In addition to the traditional memories that were made over the weekend (like our Thanksgiving meal and Black Friday shopping with my mom and sister), we also made new ones with a family craft session at my mom’s kitchen table. We chose negative space snowflakes for our project, and it was awesome.
Family members ranging in age from 3 to 85 participated, including people who swore they had no crafty bones in their bodies. The project was simple enough to work for all ages and skill levels, and resulted in great keepsakes that everyone could take home with them.
To make your own snowflakes, you’ll need the following supplies:
- Canvas in the size of your choice
- Masking tape
- Acrylic paint in color(s) of your choice
- Glitter acrylic paint (for the top coat)
- Paint brushes

Hi Bre! So glad you visited me so now I know about you! I love the snowflakes and think it is so great you involved the family!

Traci, you are so kind to stop by and comment! Do you know that I’ve been following you on Pinterest for quite some time, but had never checked out your blog. I just happened upon your post via Craft-O-Maniac today, and I was so mad at myself for not looking at your blog before. It’s great!

This is great. What a wonderful family activity. I love that the whole family got involved. They look beautiful as well. I did this with my daughter a couple of weeks ago. We made matching daisies. http://thepinterestedparent.wordpress.com/2013/11/26/matching-daisies/

Hi Kim! Your daisies are SO CUTE! I’m glad your daughter was fine with painting over the tape. When my daughter was your daughter’s age, we tried this type of project and she refused to paint over the tape. Needless to say, it didn’t turn out well at all!
