For those who celebrate . . . I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. My family and I enjoyed so much quality time with family, and excessive amounts of delicious food. I’m writing this post in my stretchy pants as I couldn’t bear to wear the skinny cords anymore. Too painful.
And now, happy New Year! How is it 2014 already? It seems like just yesterday that I was welcoming the new millennium in my friend’s basement while eating Tostito’s salsa and dancing to Celine Dion’s That’s The Way It Is. (DON’T JUDGE. That was a good song. Sort of.)
Life was great then, but it’s even better now. And I have high hopes for 2014.
Although I’m not one to make (or really, stick with) New Year’s Resolutions, I have set a few goals for myself for this year.
- Make my son’s baby book before he turns two. I feel really guilty that none of his photos have even been printed.
- Improve my blog – better photography, better content, better scheduling.
- Exercise at least twice a week, even if it’s as simple as doing my Wii Fit.
- Finally write my children’s book – the idea for which I’ve had for so long.
Perhaps bigger than all of these goals is the motto that underlies all of them – “Small Steps Every Day.” I struggle with wanting to tackle everything at once and achieve perfection / competence / completion / success / etc. right off the bat. When I don’t (surprise, surprise), I inevitably feel frustrated and like a failure. So this year, I’m going to try and take small steps toward each goal on a regular basis, remembering that each small step will bring me closer to meeting each goal I have set.

Hopefully this beautiful reminder from A House In The Hills will keep me on track.
What are your strategies for meeting your goals and/or resolutions? Any tips for me?
