Pom Pom Halloween Hair Clips

Pumpkins, witches and spiders . . . oh my!

I know that Halloween is still a long way off and that this post is a bit premature.  I just couldn’t wait to show you these super cute Halloween hair clips though!  They are SO FUN and will be a perfect addition to any little girl’s Halloween party wardrobe!

My daughter flipped when she saw them.  Seriously, she LOVED them!
I’m happy that she’s happy, and I’m also happy that this project took 15 minutes TOTAL (yes, for all 3 hair clips.)

To make these, you’ll need the following supplies:

  • Hair clips of your choice (I got a pack of 10 plain black clips at Dollar Tree)
  • Pom Poms (Michaels had these cute sparkly ones)
  • Googly Eyes
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Yarn
  • Felt
  • Hot Glue & Hot Glue Gun
SPIDER
1.  Cut a pipe cleaner into 4 pieces of equal length.  Tie them together in the middle with some yarn.
2.  Hot glue the pipe cleaner pieces to the back of the pom pom.
3.  Hot glue googly eyes to the top of the spider.
4.  Cut a piece of felt into a small circle and glue it to the back of the spider (over the pipe cleaner legs).
5.  Hot glue the spider to the hair clip by attaching the felt to the clip portion of the barrette.
PUMPKIN
1.  Cut two small pieces of pipe cleaner for eyes.  Hot glue those to the front of the pom pom.
2.  Cut a small piece of pipe cleaner and bend into shape for a mouth.  Hot glue that to the front of the pom pom.
3.  Cut a small piece of green pipe cleaner to serve as a stem.  Hot glue that to the top of the pumpkin.
4.  Tie a small piece of yarn or twine around the green pipe cleaner “stem.”
5.  Cut a piece of felt into a small circle and glue it to the back of the pom pom pumpkin.
6.  Hot glue the pumpkin to the hair clip by attaching the felt part to the clip portion of the barrette.
WITCH

1.  Glue googly eyes to the front of the pom pom.
2.  Cut a small portion of pink or red pipe cleaner and form a mouth.  Hot glue that to the front of the pom pom.
3.  Cut small pieces of yarn to serve as hair and glue that to the top of the pom pom.
4.  Cut a small piece of black pipe cleaner and form into the shape of a witch’s hat.  Glue to the top of the pom pom.
5.  Cut a piece of felt into a small circle and glue it to the back of the pom pom witch.

6.  Hot glue the witch to the hair clip by attaching the felt part to the clip portion of the barrette.

(My poor girl was sick when I took this picture of her.  🙁  I promise she was excited about these clips even though she doesn’t look like it here!)
So yeah, how fun are these little clips, especially for the preschool set?

Hi, Bre! Thanks lady! She really wants to wear them now, but I’m not sure I should let her be the weird kid wearing Halloween stuff in September . . . ? My bad. Have a great weekend!
