Earth Day is next week. And that got me thinking that I’m all for recycling, saving the planet, hugging trees . . . you name it. I really do like the Earth.
But the fact of the matter is that despite our best efforts to the contrary, there will always be trash. And consequently, there will always be trash cans.
These totally functional and utilitarian objects are often overlooked as a place to show some style and personality, but they don’t have to be! So why not turn your trash can into something a little less, well, trashy? Here are some fabulous ideas to get you started on making your own DIY trash cans!
Rustic Pallet Trash Can – The Thinking Closet
This DIY trash can is made with scrap pallet wood! How awesome (and inexpensive)! This is an upcycled trash can idea that is anything but trash.
Fabric Trash Can – Tried & True
Have you seen a cuter trash can than this DIY fabric trash can? I doubt it!
This little DIY trash can would be perfect for the car, too!
DIY Pull Out Kitchen Trash – Average But Inspired
I converted a kitchen desk to pull out trash for my kitchen. It’s awesome! I highly recommend doing the same if you don’t use your kitchen desk.
Wall-Mounted Lint Catcher – Polished Habitat
For your laundry room, this DIY lint bin is genius! And super cute, too!
Twine Wrapped Trash Can – The Creek Line House
How pretty is this rustic or farmhouse DIY trash can? The stenciled monogram adds such a lovely touch!
Flower Bucket Trash Can – Little Brags
Convert a flower bucket into a trash can. Genius! Not only is this DIY trash can pretty, but it looks very durable, too!
Trash Cabinet – Gail’s Decorative Touch
Would you ever guess that this cabinet is a trash can? It looks like furniture! This would be great in a kitchen or in a place where you don’t want anyone to guess you have to hide your trash.
After seeing all of this inspiration, I think I need to give my trash cans a little personality. They’re so plain and ugly!
